- Erie Community College Law Enforcement Training Director -
- Ed Hempling took over as Director of the Erie County law Enforcement Training Academy in June of 2005. He previously served in the Buffalo Police Department from 1971-20004. While with the Buffalo Police Department Ed rose through the ranks and retired as Chief of Administration. His assignments included Lieutenant, Patrol Captain, Captain of Narcotics and Vice and Captain of Administration & Finance.

- Ed is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Harvard’s Senior Management Institute of Police (SMIP), Cornell’s Human Resource Program and a graduate of the State University of Buffalo’s MBA Program. He utilized the analytical skills acquired at these various educational programs to introduce change such as professionalizing the support services within the Buffalo Police Department, upgrading technology, etc.
- After retirement he continued in this endeavor by further professionalizing the programs offered at ECC’s Law Enforcement Training Academy. These accomplishments include introducing the Pre Employment Program, submitting and having approved a new in service certificate program and an Associate in Applied Science Degree for the Police Basic Class (and prerequisite courses).
