Forecasting Serial Events – (CMAP) Course – Erie County

The Office of Public Safety is pleased to announce a five day “Forecasting Serial Events” course on February 8-12, 2010 in Albany County and March 22-26, 2010 in Erie County

The Forecasting Serial Events course is appropriate for those who have substantial experience using ArcGIS and are interested in learning more in-depth techniques to apply to
tactical or operational crime analysis. This course will provide analysts several fresh and sophisticated ways to analyze data towards the goal of intelligence lead deployment of resources and geographic profiling to develop suspects based on geographic characteristics of predatory humans. This class will be taught using the US Department of Justice CMAP (Crime Mapping & Analysis Program) curriculum, with significant enhancements. This is the third training class in the CMAP Training Curriculum, however completion of the first two classes, Introduction to Crime Mapping and Analysis using ArcGIS 9.3, and Intermediate Crime Mapping and Analysis Using ArcGIS 9.3 are not a prerequisite to attend this course.

Please note that priority will be given to Crime Analysts and Field Intelligence Officers for this course. Due to the hands-on nature of the training, enrollment for the class is limited. Therefore, you must receive confirmation on attendance. Please fax back the application enclosed. Please have the application sent no later than the date specified.

For additional information or if you have any questions, please contact Senior Training Technician Scott Neff by email at scott.neff@dcjs.state.ny.us or by telephone at (518) 457-2666.
