Basic Course for Peace Officer w/firearms – basic corrections

Course covers all mandates and requirements for peace officers.
Course is run on a part-time schedule, with most classes Friday evening, Sat., Sun. and Monday evenings. Course includes firearms, DT, OC, baton and is approx. 230 hours.


When: Course begins on 02/05/10 – 1530 hrs.

Ends on 05/07/10 1500 hrs with completion ceremony

Winter Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course

(24 Hours) January 26 thru 28, 2010 & a second offering on Feb. 9 thru 11, 2010. (New offering)

Objective: To provide law enforcement and first responder emergency vehicle operators, the necessary skills to drive and respond safely to emergencies in extreme winter conditions.

This course is conducted at NYS-DEC’s premiere EVOC Training Facility in Fulton, NY.

The dependable lake-effect snow of Lake Ontario provides excellent conditions for practicing emergency maneuvers in a low friction environment.

Two wheel drive as well as 4×4 emergency vehicle operations arecovered.

Perspectives on Profiling

Increased media scrutiny and public fear intensify law enforcements challenge to strengthen security without jeopardizing individual and community trust and freedom.  September 11th has forced a change in profiling strategies, but must not be allowed to feed a culture of bias.

This interactive program uses cutting edge technology to provide law enforcement with an innovative tool to hone their ethical decision making skills and meet this complex challenge.

Program objectives cover the significant issues concerning racial profiling including, definitions and legal issues; how to differentiate criminal profiling from racial profiling; and challenging police officers to examine areas of hidden bias personally and among their peers.

This is a day-long program from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Patrol Response to Active Shooter Instructor Certification

Innovative tactics and tried-and-true techniques are the hallmarks of this course designed for individuals assigned the responsibility to teach police and SWAT personnel in immediate deployment/rapid intervention techniques. This is a train-the-trainer course. Topics to be covered include an historical overview of active shooter situations including school shooting, immediate deployment/rapid intervention tactics, barricade-hostage rescue concepts and instructional techniques. Training weapons will be used in field training exercises.
