Mental Health Training Needs Survey

The NYS DCJS Office of Public Safety and the NYS Office of Mental health are partnering once again in 2010 for police mental health training. It has been past practice to rotate the various classes to different locations throughout the state. In 2009 this has proven to not be the best practice as many of the classes were cancelled due to low enrollment. So please respond to me with your mental health training needs. There are 3 courses that are available with OMH.

1. Police Mental Health Instructor – this is a 3 day course that trains current IDC certified instructors as mental health instructors for the recruit level.

2. Police Mental Health In-Service – this is a 1.5 day curriculum overview of the OMH in-service program. This training works as a train the trainer or as an in service

3. Suicide Prevention Instructor for County Jails and Police Lockups – this is a 3 day training that trains current IDC certified instructors as Suicide Prevention Instructors for the jail or lockup.

For any questions, concerns or requests please feel free to contact me. Your assistance is appreciated.

Thank you
